QuoteLayer FAQ

Questions about fit, workflow, implementation and control.

Find the questions manufacturers ask before a workflow audit. Bring representative examples when an answer depends on your documents, tools or requirements.

01 / Frequently asked questions

From fit through production.

What kind of shop is a good fit?

High-mix shops with recurring RFQ preparation work are a strong starting point. Look for complex document packets, repeated data entry, long response times or time spent searching for earlier jobs.

Which files and inputs can be used?

Requests can arrive as emails, spreadsheets, PDFs, specifications, shared-drive files or form submissions. Use the audit to confirm supported formats and what can be extracted reliably. Drawings that need manufacturing interpretation go to the estimator.

How are errors or missing details handled?

The system is designed to surface incomplete and contradictory requirements. Measure the fields and flags on representative RFQs against acceptance criteria before production.

Who approves the quote?

Your estimator decides feasibility, costing, margin, exceptions, final approval and release.

How is historical quote data used?

Earlier RFQs, orders and estimator records can surface relevant comparisons when available. Their prices are context for the estimator to assess.

Does QuoteLayer connect to our ERP?

Email, CRM, ERP, quoting software, internal databases and document repositories can be considered. Scope, access and validation depend on your specific system.

What happens during the audit and pilot?

The audit maps the current workflow and baseline. A scoped paid pilot typically tests approximately 25–50 representative historical RFQs against agreed criteria.

How long does implementation take?

Timing depends on the confirmed workflow, integration access and approval process. Decide the scope and timeline after the pilot review.

What does it cost?

Indicative USD pricing starts at $3,000 for the pilot. A typical pilot and implementation totals about $12,500, with managed service around $1,950/month. Final scope and terms are agreed during the engagement.

How is proprietary data handled?

Agree access, provider, retention, logging and deployment requirements before transferring sensitive files. See the security page for the review topics.
